A special intuitive reading for educators to remind them of what they REALLY bring to their classroom and school community, beyond academic instruction.

This reading is near and dear to my heart. As a special education teacher of over 22 years, I know firsthand how much MORE teachers give to their students than meets the eye. Teachers are stand-in parents, role models, mentors, coaches, and often the first line of communication to families when something needs special attention in a child. A true educator understands the weight of their responsibility to their students, the weight their words carry, and the opportunity they have each and every day to be the reason a young human believes in themselves and loves themselves.
But if you’re a teacher, you know it’s often a thankless job. We don’t get to see the impact we have most of the time. Our kids move on and up each year and their time with us becomes a memory file and one we can only hope is a positive and loving one.
Academic expertise at all levels matter, but what matters even more is the environment we create for our students that supports them as learners. Humans learn best when they feel safe, supported, and feel like they belong to their classroom community. This safety is what enables a child to take a risk and raise their hand in front of everyone. To be willing to be wrong, to take chances in their learning, and to value the process. This is the gift that the best educators give their kids.
This reading will focus on your specific gifts in teaching. It may be the way you make your students think about themselves or the emotional support they feel from you. It could be your humor and high energy or your consistency and reliability as a teacher. The list of qualities that our kids benefit from is endless and it’s one that when we explore it, we see the value of our role differently. It makes our teacher challenges more manageable and helps us feel empowered, even on the toughest of days.
